Austria

During the reign of Carl the Great Austria was excluded from Bavarian Duchy. In the 13-th century it fell under the Gabsburgian reign. During XIV-XVIII centuries a number of populated regions were united. The process was accompanied by a series of wars. Later there were joined several smaller states as Bohemia, Hungary, Stiria, Kraina. The new, multilingual and multicultural state emerged, inhabited by slavonic and germanic people. Austria has take a rather active part in the Thirty years War. 1741 saw the war for Austrian heirship. Austrian frontiers were Spain, France and Sweden. Its allies were England and Netherlands, later Russia also joined. Countries argued on the part of Austrian territory. Followed by death of the emperor Carl and due to absence of an heir, all of the heritage was gained by emperor's daughter Theresia. As a result of the events that followed, Austria lost a major part of Sylesia and part of its Italian territory.
